
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou soccer was unable to equalize against the third-ranked Vanderbilt, suffering a 1-0 loss at Audrey J. Walton Stadium on Friday. Despite the defeat, the Tigers (3-8-2, 0-5-1 SEC) held the high-scoring Commodores (12-0-1, 5-0-1 SEC) to just one goal on three shots, marking a season low for Vanderbilt.

The Commodores scored in the 16th minute, giving Missouri an early setback. However, the Tigers responded with pressure, creating chances from senior Brianna Buels and freshman Audrey Gilbert, both of whom had headers blocked by the Vanderbilt goalkeeper.
In the second half, Mizzou intensified its offensive efforts, launching eight shots compared to just two in the first half. Senior Taryn Chance generated a significant opportunity in the 73rd minute, but her shot was also saved, one of four second-half stops made by the Vanderbilt keeper.
Defensively, Missouri excelled, keeping the Commodores below their average of 9.08 shots per game, which ranks fifth nationally. Senior Riley Wilkerson, in her eighth start this season, made two saves after allowing the early goal.
Mizzou will travel to Oxford, Miss., for its next SEC matchup against Ole Miss on Thursday, Oct. 15, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, and the match will be streamed live on SEC Network.
