Chwalinska is among four new champions of the WTA 1000 tournaments this year, including Qinwen Zheng, Marta Kostyuk, and Karolina Muchova. In total, eight different players have won WTA 1000 titles in 2026, with Aryna Sabalenka being the only player to secure multiple titles.
Sabalenka had a strong start to the season, winning both Indian Wells and defending her Miami Open title. However, she faced challenges in subsequent tournaments, failing to advance past the quarter-finals in her last six WTA 1000 events, including an early exit at the Wuhan Open, where she lost to Ann Li.
Interestingly, none of this year’s Grand Slam champions—Elena Rybakina, Mirra Andreeva, and Linda Noskova—managed to win a WTA 1000 title. Rybakina and Andreeva reached two WTA 1000 finals each but ended as runners-up.
In terms of WTA 1000 titles, Sabalenka now holds 11, placing her equal sixth in the all-time rankings alongside Lindsay Davenport. Serena Williams leads the list with 23 titles, followed by Martina Hingis with 17, Steffi Graf with 15, and Maria Sharapova with 14. Iga Swiatek follows with 12 titles.
Sabalenka has been successful at certain tournaments, winning three titles each at the Madrid Open and Wuhan Open, while still seeking to win at the Qatar Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Italian Open, and China Open.
As she prepares for the WTA Finals, where she has been a two-time runner-up, Sabalenka aims to cap her season with a strong showing.
