PAOK Owner Advances Talks for EuroLeague Entry

As the EuroLeague's SuperCup kicks off in Abu Dhabi, discussions are underway regarding the potential addition of a third Greek team to the league.

Telis Mistakidis, the owner of PAOK, is meeting with EuroLeague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno and other significant stakeholders in the league. Though no agreements have been finalized, sources suggest a positive outlook for PAOK's inclusion in the EuroLeague, potentially starting in the 2027–28 season alongside established teams Panathinaikos Aktor and Olympiacos.

Mistakidis has presented a formal proposal that includes plans for a new arena and a vision to elevate PAOK to a prominent position in European basketball. Bueno expressed admiration for Mistakidis, noting his wealth, dedication to basketball, and ambitious goals for the club.

While Bueno did not provide a specific timeline for PAOK’s entry into the EuroLeague, the momentum appears to be growing. Prior to joining the top tier of European basketball, PAOK will focus on strengthening its domestic performance and competing in the second-tier BKT EuroCup for the 2026–27 season, starting in Group D.
