Hedda Ornberg nearly provided an early lead for Illinois in the 29th minute with a shot that hit the post, but the team could not capitalize on the pressure applied shortly thereafter. Purdue took the lead in the 37th minute and extended their advantage with goals in the 53rd and 57th minutes, sealing the victory.
Illinois will return home to Demirjian Park on Sunday, September 27, to face the Oregon Ducks at 1 p.m. CT. The match will mark Senior Day, honoring four seniors: Ava Arengo, Hedda Ornberg, Myra Schneider, and Sutton Webb.
