The initial composition, framework, and operating structure of the Council are currently in development with contributions from players. Interested players will be invited to apply, and those selected will address a wide range of sports-related matters pertaining to the Grand Slam events. The initiative has been positively received by players, with Ben Shelton expressing satisfaction: "Having a seat at the table with the Grand Slams is something we have wanted for some time, so I’m really pleased to see this council come together. It gives us, as players, a real opportunity to have a voice, contribute to the conversation and help shape the tournaments beyond what happens on the court."
The Council will address sporting matters that affect the Grand Slam tournaments collectively, as well as providing a platform for discussing issues related to player welfare and compensation, including prize money. Each Grand Slam will engage directly with players due to the distinct structure and decision-making processes of each tournament. Jessica Pegula highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, "The Grand Slams are the biggest events of the year and the events that the players prioritize. Their impact on a player's career cannot be overstated, and that is why it is so important that we have a voice in matters at these tournaments."
Gilles Moretton, President of the French Tennis Federation, echoed these sentiments, noting that the new Council will positively influence the sport by creating a dialogue space for players to collaboratively shape the future of Grand Slam tennis.
