Puls 4 Acquires Australian Open Broadcasting Rights in WBD Sublicensing Agreement

Puls 4, part of the Austrian commercial network ProSiebenSat.1, has obtained a four-year broadcasting rights package for the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament through a sublicensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the primary rights holder for the event. This deal allows Puls 4 to air the tournament in Austria, including two matches each day, one semifinal from both the men’s and women’s singles, and both singles finals.

The broadcast will be available on Puls 4 and via ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming service Joyn for the 2027 to 2030 tournaments. The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the calendar year, with the 2027 tournament scheduled to take place from January 11 to 31 at Melbourne Park.

WBD holds the pan-European rights for the Australian Open through 2031. Puls 4 takes over the free-to-air package from Servus TV, which is owned by energy drink company Red Bull and has sublicensed the rights from WBD for the period of 2023 to 2026.

This acquisition enhances ProSiebenSat.1’s sports portfolio, which also includes rights to the recently concluded US Open, and coverage of UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League matches from 2024 to 2027. The broadcaster features selected live matches from Austria’s OFB Cup, as well as content from the National Football League and NHL.

For Tennis Australia, the new agreement increases the global visibility of the Australian Open, supported by WBD and a deal with BeIN Sports for broadcasts in the Middle East and North Africa until 2029. Additionally, Sony Pictures Network in India has renewed its exclusive rights for the 2026 to 2028 tournaments, while Australia’s Nine Network has a five-year agreement covering 2025 to 2029.
