AUCKLAND (New Zealand) - FIBA and Basketball New Zealand have revealed the new visual identity for the FIBA U15 Oceania Cup and FIBA U15 Women’s Oceania Cup, designed by a New Zealand-based artist. Central to the design is a basketball, symbolizing unity among young athletes from across the Pacific. Surrounding it are layered forms influenced by Lalaga, traditional woven patterns that represent connection and craftsmanship, along with ocean ripples, illustrating how the actions of one player or team can resonate throughout the region.

The logo features Unaunahi, an overlapping fish-scale pattern that embodies unity, protection, and collective strength. Each scale signifies individual contributions to a greater whole, showcasing how players form teams and teams create communities. Encircling this design is a ring of Nifo, which stands for resilience and determination. The outer layers express the diversity and youthful energy of Oceania.

The event's identity also includes a background inspired by Ngā Hau e Whā, the four winds that historically guided people to Aotearoa. This representation signifies the diverse journeys young athletes undertake to arrive in New Zealand, carrying their unique cultures and pride. Amanda Jenkins, FIBA Executive Director – Oceania, emphasized that the new identity honors Aotearoa’s cultural heritage and the collective spirit of the region.

"This logo is a celebration of who we are as Oceania," Jenkins stated, highlighting the cultural narratives encapsulated in the design. The FIBA U15 Oceania Cup and FIBA U15 Women’s Oceania Cup go beyond mere competition, serving instead as a platform for celebrating identity, youth development, and regional unity.

The events will take place in Auckland from November 30 to December 5, with the top teams earning spots in the FIBA U16 Asia Cup and FIBA U16 Women's Asia Cup. The introduction of this new logo marks a significant moment for the tournament, which aims to inspire and connect aspiring athletes across the region.
