These teams will join Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend, along with Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani, who have already qualified this season. Siniakova and Townsend are currently the top-ranked doubles team in the PIF Doubles WTA World Rankings.
Aleksandra Krunic and her partner Anna Danilina, who were in contention, have had to withdraw due to an injury, leaving them in a challenging position on the PIF Race to the WTA Finals Leaderboard.
Mladenovic, a two-time champion at the event, returns for the first time since 2019, when she last claimed a title. This year, she has partnered with Hanyu, who is making her debut at the WTA Finals. Together, they have won two titles this season, including the ASB Classic in Auckland and a title at Wimbledon.
Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez also qualify for the WTA Finals as a team for the first time, following an impressive season that saw them win the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open and reach the final at the WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome.
Mertens and Zhang, while newcomers as a duo, bring extensive experience with a combined nine prior appearances at the WTA Finals. Mertens is a two-time champion, and their achievements this season include winning the Australian Open, which guaranteed their qualification under the Grand Slam rule.
The WTA Finals at Indian Wells will showcase the top eight singles and doubles teams from the PIF Race to the WTA Finals Leaderboard, featuring a competitive round-robin format. The event promises a rich fan experience, highlighting the best talent in women's tennis. Tickets are currently available for the tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
