The game was tightly contested early on, but Creighton built a 19-point lead midway through the second half. Iowa State fought back and narrowed the gap to just three points with 2:31 remaining. However, Creighton consistently responded to each Cyclone rally, and Iowa State's last-second shot to tie fell short.

Jamarion Batemon led Iowa State with 15 points, supported by six Cyclones scoring in double figures. Tre Singleton, Jaquan Johnson, Leon Bond, and Taj Manning each contributed 12, 12, 14, and 13 points respectively, while Dominykas Pleta added 10 points and seven rebounds.

For Creighton, Katrell Harmon was the standout performer, scoring 16 points and dishing out six assists. Harmon, alongside guards Austin Swartz, Wes Enis, and Hudson Greer, helped the Bluejays convert nine of their 14 three-pointers. Creighton outperformed Iowa State in shooting, with 51% from the field compared to ISU's 43%, and 48% from beyond the arc compared to the Cyclones' 21%. Despite this, the Cyclones capitalized on Creighton's 19 turnovers, scoring 24 points off them, including 18 in fast breaks.

Creighton took an early lead, using three-pointers to build an eight-point margin before Iowa State gained its first lead at 12:24 through free throws by Singleton. However, the Bluejays regained control and ended the first half ahead by six. At halftime, Creighton led in rebounds 20-11 and had made nine three-pointers to Iowa State's three.

In the second half, Creighton's lead quickly grew to double digits and peaked at 19 points with 10:30 left. A late Cyclone push narrowed the score, but two critical three-pointers from Creighton secured their victory.

Tre Singleton demonstrated his skills with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, in addition to two blocks and steals during his 27 minutes on the court.
