This win improved their record to 1-7-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the American Athletic Conference, while Florida Atlantic's record fell to 3-1-5 and 1-1-2 in conference play.

The first half saw Temple managing four shots, with only one on goal. Despite having a few scoring opportunities, they could not find the net. Florida Atlantic took advantage of a set piece in the 32nd minute, leading at halftime with a score of 1-0.
In the second half, Temple gained momentum, connecting their passes more effectively. Carlos Rojas scored the equalizer in the 69th minute, followed quickly by Taimoor Hussain, who netted his first goal of the season just a minute later, putting Temple ahead. This marked the first time the Owls scored two goals in a single match this season. Florida Atlantic was unable to penetrate Temple's defense in the final 20 minutes, securing a 2-1 win for the Owls.
Goalkeeper Gavin Atkinson recorded his first win of the season, making four saves out of five shots faced.
The Owls will face Lafayette next on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. in Easton, Pa., broadcast on ESPN+.
