Miralem Pjanic shared an interesting story about how Max Allegri managed to prevent Cristiano Ronaldo from taking a crucial free kick during their time at Juventus. This incident occurred during a match against Napoli in March 2019. Pjanic noted that following a foul leading to the free kick, Allegri cleverly intervened while Ronaldo was on the ground.

Pjanic recounted, "Cristiano Ronaldo won the free kick, and I think the Napoli goalkeeper Meret got sent off for it. Max Allegri saw Cris on the ground touching his knee and immediately sent the physios on for treatment. This was because the free kick was so enticing; he got Cristiano off and let me take the free kick. And I scored from it! This was the only way I could get the ball, so thank you, Max!"
Pjanic’s performance from set plays was noted, as he was one of the more consistent players in Serie A alongside teammate Paulo Dybala. In contrast, while Ronaldo took 98 free kicks during his time at Juventus, he only managed to score from one.
