However, No. 5 seed Linda Noskova and No. 4 seed Mirra Andreeva continued their strong performances. Noskova, last year's runner-up, cruised through her match against Viktorija Golubic, winning 6-2, 6-1 in just 55 minutes. Andreeva followed suit, fighting back from a 4-2 deficit in the first set to defeat Polina Kudermetova 6-4, 6-1 in 68 minutes.
Noskova showcased her aggressive front-foot tennis, recording 31 winners and capitalizing on her powerful serve, landing 77% of her first serves and conceding only five points behind it. After a brief struggle at the start of the second set, where she faced triple break point, Noskova regained composure with a series of strong serves and timely winners.
"It was a different match than the first one, especially with the conditions," Noskova noted. "It was a lot colder and much more windy. Once the match started, I had gotten into my rhythm and didn't really notice it."
Her tactical variety also impressed, as she effectively mixed her shots, employing drop shots and powerful groundstrokes. In the second set, she demonstrated great creativity, including an angled backhand volley winner.
In contrast, Andreeva often faced pressure against the aggressive Kudermetova, who delivered 25 winning shots, compared to Andreeva's three groundstroke winners but included six aces for a total of nine. Despite Kudermetova's offensive prowess, Andreeva adjusted to the windy conditions and elevated her game during crucial moments, winning 10 of the next 11 games after falling behind.
"I think today I felt more comfortable being a little bit further away from the baseline," Andreeva explained. "I knew I just had to run for every ball and put as many balls back in the court as I can."
Next, Noskova will face No. 19 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, who came back from a set down to defeat No. 11 seed Diana Shnaider 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Alexandrova, who has now reached the last 16 of a WTA 1000 event for the second time this year, has a tied record with Noskova at 1-1 in their previous encounters.
Andreeva will compete against Daria Snigur, the Ukrainian player who won decisively against Taylah Preston 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the fourth round of a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time.
