UMass Women's Soccer Achieves Third Consecutive Shutout with 2-0 Win Against Ohio

This win marks UMass's second consecutive clean sheet against a Mid-American Conference opponent. With the victory, the Minutewomen improve their overall record to 8-1-0, including 2-0-0 in MAC play. Meanwhile, Ohio's record falls to 3-5-0 for the season and 0-2-0 within the league.

Nia Hislop scored the opening goal at the 28:03 mark, assisted by Emma Burke, who recorded her first career assist. UMass and Ohio were even in shots during the first half, each taking seven, but the Minutewomen managed to place four on target compared to the Bobcats' two.

Amelia Deren added to UMass's lead with a penalty kick goal at 56:51, marking her third successful penalty of the season.

Despite Ohio outshooting Massachusetts 16-15 overall, the Minutewomen led in shots on goal, 9-7. Ohio earned seven corner kicks, while UMass had three.

Monica Curry and Caroline Dickson each recorded three shots, with Curry's being on goal. Deren and Aline Traber contributed two shots apiece, while five other players each had one shot.

Leah Nisenfeld recorded seven saves, preserving her fourth shutout of the season and the 11th of her career. For Ohio, goalkeeper Ayla Rammel allowed two goals and made seven saves throughout the match.

UMass will return to Rudd Field to take on Kent State on Saturday, September 26, at 12 p.m., in a game that will be streamed on ESPN+.
