The previous record was held by Lionel Messi, who took 80 matches to score 60 goals. Haaland achieved this feat at 26 years and 85 days old, one day younger than Messi. Before this match, he had already set records for the fastest to 20, 30, 40, and 50 goals, completing those milestones in 14, 25, 35, and 49 matches, respectively.
Haaland is now the seventh player to reach 60 Champions League goals, outpacing notable players such as Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappé, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Raúl.
In addition to this record, Haaland's two goals against PSG made him Manchester City's all-time leading scorer in the Champions League, surpassing Sergio Agüero. He began the match with 36 goals, and with his goals in the 53rd and 75th minutes, he now stands at 38 for the club.
Despite his efforts, City fell behind 3-0 by halftime, with goals from Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, and Vitinha. After Haaland's second goal, the score was 4-2, but Gianluigi Donnarumma's late save of a penalty from Ferran Torres prevented further damage.
Haaland now holds 61 Champions League goals in 60 matches, continuing to demonstrate his offensive prowess as he aims for the top of the all-time scoring list.
