This matchup marks the first meeting between North Texas and Duke in the history of the women's basketball program, which spans 50 seasons.
The Mean Green, entering their fourth season under head coach Jason Burton, have seen substantial success recently. During Burton's tenure, the team has achieved 67 total wins, reaching two national postseason tournaments and sharing the 2024 regular season title in the American Conference. Last season, North Texas finished with a record of 19-14 and narrowly missed advancing to the American Conference Championship finals for the second consecutive year. The team also broke its own record by making 181 three-pointers in a single season, ranking in the top three in scoring offense and defense within the league.
Duke, coming off an impressive season, finished with a record of 27-9, securing both the ACC Tournament and regular-season championships. The Blue Devils made it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament, where they were defeated by eventual national champions UCLA, concluding the season ranked No. 5 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the final NET Rankings.
In addition to the game on Sunday, The Foundry weekend will feature The Foundry Future Summit and The Foundry Table on Saturday, November 7. These events aim to provide student-athletes, coaches, and university leaders with educational opportunities focused on leadership, culture, and program development.
