Lamine Yamal played a pivotal role, scoring a stunning opener and providing an assist for Gabriel Jesus. His performance was punctuated by a headbutt from Betis player Facundo Bernal, leading to Bernal's red card.

The scoring began in the 10th minute when Yamal showcased his skill, cutting in and curling a shot into the top-left corner. However, Betis equalized just before the half-hour mark with a header from Valentin Gomez following a cross from Pablo Fornals.

Barcelona’s Hector Bellerin missed a significant opportunity soon after, shooting directly at goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Fornals' cut-back. Betis capitalized on this as Rodri headed in from a corner taken by Fermin Lopez in the 41st minute.

Just before halftime, Giovani Lo Celso appeared to put Betis level with an impressive long-range volley, but the goal was ruled out for a handball by Cucho Hernandez in the build-up. Barcelona quickly took control again after the break when Yamal assisted Gabriel Jesus, putting them ahead 3-1.

Abde Ezzalzouli scored for Betis shortly thereafter to reduce the deficit, but the game's intensity escalated when Bernal headbutted Yamal, resulting in Betis' numerical disadvantage.

Barcelona capitalized on this advantage as Eric Garcia scored from a header back across the box by Pau Cubarsi. Dani Olmo rounded off the scoring with a spectacular finish in the 81st minute.

Yamal's performance drew mixed reactions from the Betis fans, who booed him throughout the match. Nonetheless, the 19-year-old proved his remarkable talent, completing six of eight dribbles total for the whole Betis team and leading in shots with four, alongside his goal and assist.

Yamal now holds the record for the most assists in Europe's top-five leagues this season, with 10, and has been involved in 19 goals overall (nine goals and 10 assists). He has also achieved the highest LaLiga goal tally by a Spanish player after the first nine matches since Diego Costa in 2013-14.

Coach Hansi Flick had reason to be pleased with his team's overall performance, with Barcelona registering an expected goals (xG) total of 3.04 compared to Betis' 0.98.

Barcelona became only the second team in LaLiga history to win their first nine matches of a season, following Real Madrid in 1968-69, and they have scored 39 goals, the second most after a team's first nine matches in a competition season, trailing only Sevilla's 42 in 1940-41.
