CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The No. 7 Carolina women's soccer team completed their non-conference schedule with a dominant 5-0 victory against Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon. Carolina opened the scoring in the 15th minute when standout freshman Deus Stanislaus found the back of the net with a header, assisted by Wylie Roossien. Just two minutes later, Bella Devey netted her ninth goal of the season, extending the lead to 2-0 with an assist from Amari Manning.
In the 26th minute, Stanislaus struck again, showcasing her skill with a clever maneuver past a defender to secure her second goal. Manning provided her second assist of the game on that play.
The match also marked the return of Aven Alvarez, Hope Munson, and Sealey Strawn to Dorrance Field after being called up to the U-20 Women's National Team for the 2026 U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup. Their last appearance for Carolina was against Michigan State on August 23.
Heading into halftime, Carolina led 3-0, having taken seven shots with five hitting the target.
In the second half, Devey scored her tenth goal of the season in the 58th minute, following a cross from Riley Kennedy and a flick from Bella Gaetino. The goal marked Gaetino's first assist of the season. Junior Logan Tongberg capped off the scoring in the 89th minute, adding her second goal of the season, set up by Ella Martinez for her first career assist.
With this victory, Carolina improved to 6-1 at home and 9-1 overall this season. Caitlin Mara made her first start of the year, playing 85 minutes. Both Devey and Stanislaus achieved a brace in the match, with Devey leading the team in scoring with ten goals.
Notably, Carolina has outscored opponents 31-5 at home this season and finished non-conference play with a 7-1 record, having outscored their opponents 29-4. The team's defense limited Alcorn State to just three shots throughout the match.
