Djokovic secured the victory with a score of 7-6 (3), 0-1, extending his undefeated record at the China Open to 34-0. This marks his seventh title at the tournament and the 102nd of his ATP career, putting him one title behind Roger Federer and eight behind Jimmy Connors’ record of 109 in the Open era.

Earlier this year, Djokovic had only lost one final, which was against Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open. De Minaur was hoping to clinch his first title in Beijing and a second title of the year, having previously won in Rotterdam in February.

During the first set, the ninth-ranked De Minaur showcased aggressive play, saving two break points, but ultimately fell to Djokovic in the tiebreak. De Minaur hit 11 winners compared to Djokovic's three. On his path to the final, Djokovic defeated top-10 players Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev, the latter of whom was disqualified in their semifinal match after hitting a spectator with the ball. De Minaur advanced to the final after Hubert Hurkacz withdrew injured in their match.
