JT Toppin of Texas Tech to Miss Season Due to Torn ACL

LUBBOCK – Texas Tech junior forward JT Toppin will miss the remainder of the season following an MRI that confirmed he has a torn ACL in his right knee, an injury sustained during a game against Arizona State on Tuesday night.

Toppin has had an impressive season, earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors four times. He currently leads the nation with 234 made field goals, averaging 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. Within the Big 12, he ranks first in double-doubles (16), rebounds (10.8), and offensive rebounds (4.2). Nationally, he is third in double-doubles, sixth in rebounding, and ninth in scoring. Last season, Toppin was named Consensus Second Team All-America and Big 12 Player of the Year, contributing significantly to the Red Raiders' run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Over the course of 93 career games, he has accumulated 1,593 points, 907 rebounds, and 47 double-doubles.
