Cole Palmer has signed a new contract with Chelsea, extending his agreement until 2034. The 24-year-old England international, originally under contract until 2033, is being rewarded for his performances as a crucial attacking player and is increasingly recognized as a leader within the squad.

This extension places Palmer among the players with the longest contracts in the Premier League, alongside Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Chelsea teammates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda, who are also signed through 2034.
"Chelsea means a lot to me, and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I'm delighted to sign and I'm obviously very happy," Palmer stated. He highlighted meetings with the owners, sporting directors, and manager, expressing gratitude for the confidence they instilled in him. "Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently, and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too."
Palmer originally joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a £42.5 million transfer in 2023, signing his previous contract two years ago. The renewal is part of a broader initiative by Chelsea to extend contracts for both established and emerging talents while maintaining the club's wage structure. Joao Pedro also signed a new contract until 2034 in August, followed by Pedro Neto, who secured a six-year deal last month.
Palmer has formed a strong partnership with Brazil forward Joao Pedro and has rekindled his connection with Morgan Rogers, his close friend, as early interactions under manager Xabi Alonso continue to evolve. Palmer was recently involved in negotiations for Rogers' transfer from Aston Villa for a club-record £117 million this summer.
This season, Palmer has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven matches, showing a return to form after dealing with a persistent groin issue last season. He admitted to playing through the problem, which ultimately contributed to his absence from England's World Cup squad after consulting specialists regarding potential surgery.
Palmer has logged more playing time than any Chelsea player this season, but he missed the recent international break. Manager Thomas Tuchel noted Palmer "misses too many opportunities." Alonso confirmed that Palmer is expected to be fit for Saturday's game against Bournemouth, emphasizing the importance of ensuring he is fully recovered. "Absolutely. He's committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play." Additionally, Alonso's team currently stands 10th in the league table after conceding 12 goals in five matches.
