Ram enjoyed a remarkable career, winning four Grand Slam titles, including three at the US Open, which contributed to his rise to No. 1 in the ATP Tour doubles rankings in 2022. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Ram expressed his mixed emotions about ending his playing career, stating, “All good things must come to an end.”
He reflected on his journey, noting, “The reality is that all of this started as just a game. I always thought tennis could be a sport for life for me, but I never envisioned that it would make my life.” Ram emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement throughout his career, which spanned more than two decades.
He also addressed those with South Asian heritage, encouraging them to pursue their dreams without fear: “There’s no certain path you have to follow, and nothing is out of reach. If you set your mind to achieving your dream and surround yourself with the right people, it can happen… I’m living proof.”
Ram thanked his fans and supporters, stating, “You took me from the boy with a passion... to the man with a lifetime of memories.” He concluded his message with a heartfelt tribute to his father, expressing his love and gratitude.
In addition to his Grand Slam successes in doubles, Ram secured two mixed doubles titles at the Australian Open in 2019 and 2021 with partner Barbora Krejčíková. He also earned two Olympic silver medals, competing alongside Venus Williams and Austin Krajicek in the Paris and Rio Olympics.
