Ole Miss Soccer Loses 2-0 to Texas at Home

The Longhorns (6-2-3, 1-1-2 SEC) took an early lead, scoring just 70 seconds into the match when Ashlyn Anderson netted her third goal of the season with assistance from Alicia Riggins.

Ole Miss (7-5-0, 0-4-0 SEC) responded aggressively, forcing Texas goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn into three saves within a five-minute span. Flynn stopped shots from Teaghan Irvin in the 17th minute, Sarah Granno in the 18th, and Maizy Kluksdal in the 22nd.

The Rebels maintained pressure in the first half, outshooting Texas 9-6, but went into halftime trailing 1-0. Alongside the aforementioned attempts, Jenna Studer, Isabella Pontieri, and Ryann Reynolds also contributed shots.

In the 54th minute, Ava Ghoreishi tried her luck again, but Flynn's save kept Texas in front. The Longhorns extended their lead at the 61:34 mark when Ava McDonald scored her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Vivian Geesbreght.

Despite being down, Ole Miss continued to attack, earning four corner kicks in the final 25 minutes. Bella Leonard recorded the Rebels' last shot on target in the 81st minute, but Flynn made her fifth save to secure the shutout.

Ole Miss outshot Texas 16-13 and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks, with both teams registering five attempts on goal. Granno was the standout for Ole Miss with three shots, while Evie Ewing, Ghoreishi, and Reynolds added two each.

Taylor Prigge played the full match in goal for the Rebels and made three saves.
