A man faces multiple criminal charges following an incident at Wilmington College in Ohio, where he allegedly hid in the ceiling of the women’s locker room to photograph members of the women’s soccer team. The suspect, identified as Jayson Barker from Jeffersonville, Ohio, was a custodian employed by a third-party vendor named Scioto. Campus safety officers detained Barker until police arrived. He now faces 11 counts of voyeurism.
According to an affidavit filed in Clinton County Municipal Court, security personnel stated that 11 girls were changing in the locker room when they saw a person emerge from the ceiling holding a phone, followed by a flash that suggested a photo or video was taken. Barker, in a statement, claimed he was merely reading the Bible on his phone while above the drop ceiling and insisted he had not taken any pictures. The affidavit noted that his phone was confiscated as evidence just before his arrival at jail.
Additionally, while being taken to jail, Barker mentioned he had an unloaded shotgun in his car, which was parked at the college. He was booked into the Clinton County Jail with a bond set at $22,000 but has since posted bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 5 at 2 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing, and Wilmington police are reviewing evidence to assess whether further charges may be warranted. In light of the incident, Wilmington College has cut ties with Scioto and is offering counseling services to the affected students, as stated by Randall Sarvis, the college's associate vice president of communications and public relations.
