Gordon had taken official visits to VCU from August 27-28, Tennessee from September 4-6, and Creighton from September 11-13 before canceling other planned trips and deciding on his announcement date.
Ranked 28th by Rivals, 30th by ESPN, and 33rd by 247Sports, Gordon stands out as Creighton's highest-rated recruit in the era of recruiting websites, surpassing previous commitments like Jackson McAndrew.
Hailing from Plainfield, N.J., Gordon played his first three years at Plainfield High School, where he averaged 24.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.6 steals as a junior. His standout performances included a game with 42 points and several games surpassing 30 points, along with two double-doubles. He also secured two state titles during his time at Plainfield.
For his senior year, Gordon will attend SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, where he will play under renowned coach Kevin Boyle, who has developed multiple NBA Draft picks and coached notable players like Creighton's Hudson Greer.
Gordon participated in the Nike EYBL circuit with the PSA Cardinals. He is recognized for his strong finishing abilities around the basket, solid body control, and effective long-range shooting. During his high school career, he averaged over four free-throw attempts per game.
Creighton's coaching staff was proactive in recruiting top point guards for the 2027 class, having also hosted other highly regarded prospects like Antonio Pemberton and Jaxson Davis, who both chose other programs. Alongside Gordon, Creighton's 2027 recruiting class now includes London Dada and CJ Reef.
