In her post-match comments, Zheng remarked on the competitive atmosphere, stating, "I just think I believe here everybody wants to take me down. They really show up [with] their best tennis. I believe somehow they prove that the level was really high."

Zheng, who received a wild card entry into the tournament, will next face Alina Charaeva, who is also enjoying an unexpected run after defeating Sonay Kartal and previously upsetting World No. 1 Elena Rybakina.

Having logged a total of eight hours and one minute on court, the most of any player at the China Open so far, Zheng demonstrated resilience, securing victories in 13 of her 21 wins this season in decisive sets. During the match, she reflected on a critical moment when she led 3-1 in the first set but struggled to capitalize on multiple break-point opportunities against Bouzkova.

Before the tournament, Zheng expressed that playing in Beijing felt almost like competing in a fifth Grand Slam and emphasized her desire to perform well in front of her home crowd. "Of course, I'm really happy to win because I felt like maybe [the opponent] plays without pressure, but I felt I really play with a lot of pressure because I want to perform well in front of my home crowd," she said.

Zheng's ability to pressure Bouzkova's serve proved crucial, as she generated 12 break-point opportunities and converted 36% of Bouzkova's first-service points. On her own serve, Zheng achieved an 81% success rate on first serves and delivered 11 aces, giving her a total of 26 aces in the tournament, the most of any player.

Looking ahead to her match against Charaeva, Zheng holds a 1-0 advantage in their head-to-head encounters. However, she admitted she needs to familiarize herself more with Charaeva's style of play. "To be honest, I might have seen her matches, but a little bit of an impression of her game, not so much. After this press conference I will do my homework."
