Claire Liu: Career Highlights and Tournament Results

In singles, Liu was a finalist at the 2022 Rabat tournament. In WTA 125 events, she has achieved two victories, winning in 2022 at Paris and in 2026 at Barranquilla. She finished as a finalist in 2023 at Chicago, and her top result in 2025 was reaching the semifinals in Guangzhou as a qualifier ranked No. 305, marking her first Tour-level semifinal since July 2023.

During the 2024 season, Liu reached the second round at Miami as a qualifier (losing to Daria Kasatkina due to retirement) and earned her seventh ITF title before taking a break following Roland Garros.

In 2023, her standout performances included reaching the semifinals at Budapest on clay (losing to Anna Baindl) and the quarterfinals at Seoul (losing to eventual champion Jessica Pegula). She also finished as runner-up at the WTA 125 Chicago event.

Liu performed well on clay in 2022, achieving second place in Rabat (losing to Martina Trevisan) and winning the WTA 125 title in Paris. Additionally, she reached the semifinals at Monastir (losing to Elise Mertens) and the quarterfinals at Tokyo (losing to Qinwen Zheng).

In 2021, she reached the second round at Charleston, Wimbledon, and San Jose, with her first career win over a Top-50 player coming from her upset of No. 46 Dayana Yastremska in the first round at San Jose.

Her experiences at the WTA level in 2020 included first-round exits at the US Open and Lexington. On the ITF Circuit, she was runner-up twice, including at the $100k ITF event in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Liu ended 2019 ranked No. 333 after a 23-23 record across all levels. In that year, she faced several defeats in WTA qualifying, including the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon but managed to secure her third ITF title at the $25k event in Florence, South Carolina.

In 2018, Liu had five second-round appearances, including at Wimbledon (as a qualifier) and the US Open. A notable victory over No. 69 Magdalena Linette marked her first win over a Top 100 player.

She made her Grand Slam main draw debut at the 2017 US Open (qualifying and losing to Zhao Duan). In that year, she also lifted two more ITF titles in Naples and Caserta after falling short in early rounds of qualifying at Stanford, Indian Wells, and Québec City.

Liu's journey began in 2014 when she first competed in the ITF Circuit and won her initial title in 2015 at the $10k event in Orlando. As a junior, she won the Wimbledon girls' singles in 2017, becoming the first American to achieve this title since Chanda Rubin in 1992, and rose to No. 1 in the ITF girls' junior rankings. She also won the Wimbledon girls' doubles in 2016 with her partner, Emina Arconada.
