AMES, Iowa – Tamin Lipsey has been officially added to the 2026-27 Iowa State Men's Basketball roster. The decision comes after he was granted a temporary restraining order in the Daley vs. NCAA case by the Monroe County Circuit Court in Indiana, allowing him an additional year of eligibility.

Lipsey, who went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, participated in the NBA Summer League with the Indiana Pacers. He started in both games he played for the Pacers but had to exit due to an injury.
Previously, Lipsey earned recognition as a 2024 AP Honorable Mention All-American and was named to the All-Big 12 team three times. Academically, he was a three-time CSC Academic All-American and the 2026 CSC Academic All-American of the Year, also making the Allstate NACDA Winter Good Works Team.
On the court, Lipsey was a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team selection. He averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game last season, making him the only Power Conference player in the country to reach those averages since 2022. He also became the first Cyclone to achieve such numbers since Tyrese Haliburton in the 2019-20 season. Lipsey's 3.33 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks seventh in school history, while his two steals per game are the eighth-best.
He holds the record for the most steals in Iowa State history with 313, and ranks fourth in assists with 602. Moreover, his 137 career starts are the highest in the program's history and he has the second-most career wins at 98. Throughout his 137 games as a Cyclone, Lipsey averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game, finishing his career with totals of 1,507 points, 602 assists, 518 rebounds, and 314 steals. This achievement made him the first player in Big 12 history to reach those statistical milestones and only the fourth player in NCAA history since 1986-87.
