South Carolina women’s basketball forward Chloe Kitts is set to rejoin the team after missing the entire 2025-26 season due to a torn ACL. Kitts, a 6-foot-2 fifth-year player, previously had a standout season in 2024-25, averaging 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Kitts suffered the injury in October 2025 during practice but has been cleared to return just as the Gamecocks begin their practice for the new season, which officially kicks off on November 2 in Paris against Maryland. Kitts expressed her excitement about being back on the court, stating, "I feel great. Blessed to be back out here with my team," and noted that she is not currently wearing a knee brace.
During early practice drills, Kitts appeared to be fully engaged, showing her speed and agility on both offense and defense. Coach Dawn Staley emphasized the value of Kitts’ experience and work ethic, especially within a relatively young frontcourt which includes Ashlyn Watkins, who also returns after sitting out last season, and several freshmen.
Kitts' return is highly anticipated as her mid-range shooting could significantly enhance the Gamecocks’ offensive capabilities, which struggled in that area last season. In 2024-25, she shot 36.5% from mid-range, exceeding the Division I average by 3.2%. Without her last year, the team still reached the national championship game for the third consecutive year.
Kitts is aiming for another championship victory and to improve her prospects for the upcoming WNBA draft. "We're trying to win. Every day we come in here, we work as hard as we can and we all have one goal," she stated.
