Rome City Schools stated that the incident occurred off school grounds and was not connected to the activities at the high school. In a statement, the school expressed its sorrow over the loss, saying, "Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with the student’s family, friends, and loved ones."
His family described him as someone who brought joy to others, saying, "He never really was the type to talk much, but he always managed to put a smile on everyone’s face, and he will be forever missed." They have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover hospital and funeral expenses.
