Underwood reported that second-year forward David Mirkovic is recovering from a foot injury and will undergo a further examination early next week. "At this point in time, we will just take what the doctors tell us. There is no rush. We want to make sure he’s healthy; it’s a long season," Underwood said.
He also announced that senior forward Zvonimir Ivisic has returned to practice after dealing with a hand injury this summer. Underwood praised Ivisic, noting he ran a mile in 5:20 this offseason and has the potential to become one of the best rim protectors in the country.
The Illini will begin their season with a road exhibition against Cincinnati on October 17, followed by two home exhibitions before their regular-season opener against Farleigh Dickinson on November 2.
