The average attendance during the current tournament reached 6,556 spectators per game. The final match in Sydney, where China faced the USA, attracted 15,895 spectators and remains the most-attended game in the history of the Women’s World Cup.
Several nights at the Berlin Arena, which holds a maximum capacity of 12,650 for this event, were sold out. The inaugural Women’s World Cup took place in 1953 in Chile, held at the National Stadium on a specially-built wooden platform, which had a seating capacity of 35,000. Records indicate that around 30,000 fans attended the final game between hosts Chile and the USA, marking it as the highest reported attendance for a Women’s World Cup match.
Recently, the Paris 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournaments also achieved significant success, with the women’s tournament attracting 513,838 fans across 26 games, averaging 19,763 spectators per game.
