NDSU Soccer Kicks Off Summit League Play Against North Dakota

This matchup marks the 23rd meeting between NDSU and North Dakota, with the Bison holding a 13-7-2 record in the series. NDSU has a record of 11-4-2 in the Division I era and 6-2-1 since UND joined the Summit League in 2018. Historically, the Bison have performed well in Grand Forks, winning their last two visits, 2-1 in 2024 and 2-0 in 2022.

Significantly, the 2026 season will usher in a new format for Summit League soccer, introducing pod play. Each of the four teams in NDSU's pod will play home and away matches, with the top three from each pod qualifying for the postseason.

In a recent match against Florida Atlantic, Amaya Garrett scored her first goal since her freshman year, salvaging a 1-1 draw for the Bison. She netted the goal in the final minute with a shot that hit the far post. Since arriving at NDSU, Garrett has started all 63 games and logged over 5,500 minutes on the field.

In their last encounter with North Dakota, NDSU controlled the game but ultimately lost 1-0. Despite holding a 12-8 advantage in total shots and a 58 percent possession rate, they could not score. North Dakota secured the win with a 62nd-minute free kick goal from Yui Fujii.

NDSU will return to Dacotah Field for their first Summit League home game on Sunday, September 27, against South Dakota, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
