This year, Salisbury and Ram made history by becoming the first duo to win three consecutive men's doubles titles at the US Open. Salisbury is recognized as Britain's most successful men's doubles player of the Open era, notable for winning the 2020 Australian Open with Ram and two mixed doubles titles with Desirae Krawczyk.
At 34, Salisbury expressed contentment with his decision to retire, stating he had been contemplating his future for some time. He shared on Instagram, "Tennis has been my life for as long as I can remember and I have been incredibly fortunate to have had all the opportunities, experiences and success that I have."
He reflected on his career, mentioning that traveling the world while playing tennis has been a dream come true. He concluded that he gave his all and could look back on his career with no regrets.
Earlier this year, Salisbury took a three-month break, discussing the anxiety he faced on tour with BBC Sport. Though he didn't feel it impacted his performance significantly, he admitted it created an unsettling atmosphere that diminished the enjoyment of life on the road. He retires with 17 tour-level titles, including victories at the ATP Finals in 2022 and 2023.
