The Lopes played at Reed Arena, facing a robust Southeastern Conference (SEC) team. The score and statistics from the exhibition were not disclosed. Head coach Bryce Drew highlighted the intensity of play, noting the team's experience with pressing tactics, which helped them work on their desired faster pace. He stated that all nine players received significant minutes and cohesion on the court against a formidable opponent.

GCU's opponents showcased talent including PJ Haggerty, a 6-foot-3 guard with a proven scoring track record, and Jordan Pope, a transfer from Texas, both fitting into head coach Bucky McMillan's aggressive playing style that led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament second round last season.

Senior point guard Dylan Darling remarked on the challenge presented by Texas A&M's relentless press, expressing pride in his team's performance, particularly given it was their first exposure to such an approach this season.

The scrimmage not only allowed GCU to experience various game situations but also provided opportunities for officiating and in-game adjustments in a regulation format. After the initial game, both teams engaged in an additional 10-minute segment for extra practice.

Drew appreciated the three exhibition games available this season, seeing the potential for increased player evaluation and adjustment time. GCU will face two more scrimmages, including an October 27 home game against Western New Mexico that will welcome fans. The Lopes' regular season kicks off on November 2 against Texas Southern at Global Credit Union Arena.

Darling commented on the value of playing a different team outside Arizona, acknowledging the depth and talent of Texas A&M. He described the experience as unique and beneficial, allowing GCU to prepare for various playing styles.

The Aggies, aiming for another NCAA Tournament appearance, are bolstered by returning players Zach Clemens and Mackenzie Mgbako, who were hindered by injuries last season, along with new frontcourt additions Jamie Vinson and Cade Phillips, enhancing their physical presence on the court.

Senior center Tyler Berhend reflected on the conditioning aspect of the game, noting Texas A&M's quick pace and the challenge of their full-court pressure. He felt the Lopes adapted well and expressed optimism for the upcoming season.
