Boumtje Boumtje excelled on the international stage, showing promise as he demonstrated skills that align with both forward and guard positions. He is noted for his ability to score from the perimeter, handle the ball, and contribute defensively with strong rebounding and shot-blocking capabilities. Although he may not dominate in his freshman year to the extent that players like Cooper Flagg or Cameron Boozer did, his long-term potential is viewed as exceptionally high.

Whether Boumtje Boumtje will start immediately for Duke remains uncertain. However, his two-way skill set makes it difficult to imagine he won't see significant playing time early in the season. This summer, he participated with Team USA at the FIBA U17 World Cup, leading the team in several statistical categories, including averaging 19.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 59.8% from the field.

Additionally, his performance at the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Tournament with FC Barcelona was equally impressive, where he averaged 19.0 points and won MVP honors at both events.

In a recent interview, Boumtje Boumtje expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, "At my best, I think it's just unstoppable. Like, I can attack any big guy, I can shoot over anybody." His stature of 7'1.5" with shoes and advanced skill set suggests he could become one of the premier players in college basketball in the coming years.

The competition for the starting four position at Duke is currently open, but Boumtje Boumtje's polished skill set could provide significant contributions immediately. Coach Scheyer has two years to develop him further, and Boumtje Boumtje's confidence suggests he might evolve into a standout player by the 2027-28 season.
