The teams are currently close in the SBC standings, with only three points separating Marshall, Louisiana, and Georgia State.

Head Coach Rafa Simoes is guiding his third season with the program. After serving as an associate with the men’s team, Simoes led Marshall to their best season in a decade in 2025, achieving eight wins and earning four All-Conference selections, the highest since 2015.

Marshall's performance this season reveals a strong home record of 4-0-3, while their 3-3-1 road record is just one win shy of equaling last season's total victories away from home. Forward Wiktoria Mikrut is leading the team with six goals and is significantly contributing with 50 shots, including a game-winning goal against ULM.

For Marshall to achieve consecutive winning seasons for the first time in program history, one more victory is essential.

On the other side, Louisiana comes into the match after two consecutive losses, ending a six-match unbeaten streak. They hold a home record of 4-2-2 this season. Sophomore midfielder Miku Kurihara, who previously earned SBC Midfielder of the Year honors, is second in the conference with 11 goals.

Louisiana won the previous two meetings between the teams in 2023 and 2024.
