Bueno's comments came after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver indicated that collaboration would be the best avenue for both leagues. In an interview with The Athletic, Bueno noted, "As of today, we have not received anything from the NBA about what a potential partnership or collaboration could look like. Also, we have signed NDAs in place, so we will not comment on anything if we share any documents until we both decide together we have something to share."
He expressed a willingness to carefully evaluate any offers that may arise from the NBA, aiming to enhance the EuroLeague and European basketball overall. "If an offer or a concrete proposal comes from the NBA, we would evaluate it carefully and, as appropriate, present it to our owners," Bueno stated.
He emphasized that both the NBA and EuroLeague have shown readiness for an agreement, advocating for unity to enhance the value of basketball in Europe. "We have both publicly stated that we believe collaboration is the best way to grow basketball in Europe, and I think there is a shared understanding that the European basketball ecosystem can create more value by working together rather than fragmenting the market."
